A first order projection-based time-splitting scheme for computing chemically reacting flows
نویسنده
چکیده
The simulation of chemically reacting ows in speci c situations is a basic instrument in natural sciences in order to understand complex phenomena (e.g., salt concentrations in oceans) as well as in engineering sciences (e.g., the optimization of the Czochralski growth in semiconductor industries, see e.g. [7, 15]). The objective of the paper is two-fold: First, we will present a rst-order time-splitting scheme that is suitable for parallelization of the related quantities in each time-step. Additionally, this scheme is based on the separate computation of the new velocityeld and pressure by means of Chorin's scheme. Second, we present a thorough analysis of this scheme deriving optimal error statements that are applicable for general ow situations.

A Second Order Projection-based Time-splitting Scheme for Computing Chemically Reacting Flows
The computation of velocity eld, pressure, temperature distribution and mass fraction functions that are coupled in a nonlinear PDE describing chemically reacting ows is a challenging task since computational resources are limited. Implicit solution ansatzes of the coupled quantities require a vast amount of storage capacities that is lacking on normal workstations to resolve complex ow structu...
متن کاملA high-order low-Mach number AMR construction for chemically reacting flows
A high-order projection scheme was developed for the study of chemically reacting flows in the lowMach number limit. The numerical approach for the momentum transport uses a combination of cell-centered/cell-averaged discretizations to achieve a fourth-order formulation for the pressure projection algorithm. This scheme is coupled with a second-order in time operator-split stiff approach for th...
متن کاملThe numerical simulation of compressible flow in a Shubin nozzle using schemes of Bean-Warming and flux vector splitting
Over the last ten years, robustness of schemes has raised an increasing interest among the CFD community. The objective of this article is to solve the quasi-one-dimensional compressible flow inside a “Shubin nozzle” and to investigate Bean-Warming and flux vector splitting methods for numerical solution of compressible flows. Two different conditions have been considered: first, there is a sup...
متن کاملA non-iterative pressure based scheme for the computation of reacting radiating flows
A non-iterative pressure based algorithm which consists of splitting the solution of momentum energy and species equations into a sequence of predictor–corrector stages was developed for the simulation of transient reacting radiating flows. A semi-discrete approach called the Method of Lines (MOL) which enables implicit time-integration at all splitting stages was used for the solution of conse...
متن کاملAn Enhanced MSS-based checkpointing Scheme for Mobile Computing Environment
Mobile computing systems are made up of different components among which Mobile Support Stations (MSSs) play a key role. This paper proposes an efficient MSS-based non-blocking coordinated checkpointing scheme for mobile computing environment. In the scheme suggested nearly all aspects of checkpointing and their related overheads are forwarded to the MSSs and as a result the workload of Mobile ...
